James Bordelon Jr, MD, FACS

I returned home to Avoyelles Parish after completing my surgical training and started a solo practice in September 2007.  Surgical services at Avoyelles Hospital were revitalized and now we are proud to offer advanced laparoscopy options for cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, colectomy, etc.  For the patient, this surgical option equates to less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and earlier return to work.

A significant portion of my practice involves colorectal cancer screening where hundreds of patients have been treated endoscopically to remove precancerous polyps in the colon.  This screening procedure helps prevent the development of colon cancer and should be a wellness priority for anyone over 50 years of age.
